Spokesman: Putin may mull ruble strengthening with econ minister
MOSCOW, Feb 15 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin may discuss strengthening of the ruble at his Wednesday meeting with Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
According to the Moscow Exchange, the ruble grew 46 kopecks against the U.S. dollar to 56.65 rubles and 52 kopecks against the euro to 59.88 rubles as of 10.50 a.m. Moscow time, a record since the summer of 2015.
“This is a question for the government,” Peskov said when asked whether the Kremlin sees risks in strengthening of the ruble.
“By the way, the topic of macroeconomics, and this issue in one way or another, may be discussed during the meeting (between Putin and Oreshkin) later today. Though I would like to reiterate that this is a question that should be put to the government,” he added.
